Here is David clapping when Brian walked out to get his diploma. That's right I was photographing him & not the graduate! What about it! ha. Really we just couldn't get a good shot... I promise, we tried :)

We had beautiful weather for our visit & spent lots of time outside.

Dave & I dream of updating a historic home one day. You certainly can't find the character and detail that older homes have in the modern cookie-cutter development homes that are popping up on every open square foot of land around here. Well, Dave & I are history buffs so we're biased! haha

The 1st thing Dave & I explored was the old barn. We found initials carved into the sides and old farm tools half buried in the ground and long since forgotten.

Much of it was boarded up (probably with good reason!) but of course we found a way in.

Samson pretended to be a brave mountain dog.

David loved the freedom on running (& often falling) up the hills and exploring all that rural life has to offer.

He was fascinated with the turtle Dave found. While turtles generally have the reputation as slow, this turtle was determined (maybe the dog was the motivating factor?) and after it had escaped (& been re-caught) three times, we decided it earned its freedom.

LD spent much of his time observing the hoards of caterpillars which were dropping from trees en mass and settling in every crevice of the rocks around the old barn.

YES! They were really dropping out of the trees...
And he did pick me some for Mother's Day. I brought some home and planted them in my sad excuse for a garden (it needs A LOT of work...)
And YES! They were absolutely in masses... Caterpillars do not bother me at all. I'll pick them up, whatever... Now, hundreds of caterpillars... that is a whole other story and I was pretty skeeved out. You would be too! They were everywhere...
David was addicted to smelling the lilacs. He REALLY could not control himself!
But he did share...
